I don’t have a tutorial to post today, but as Jen mentioned before we’ve recently joined forces with Anna Griffin &Blend Fabrics on their design team. I love so many of the fabrics available and am so excited to showcase some of their best! (check out FB here for some fun ideas!) The first time I laid eyes on this Mermaid Turquoise fabric from the Sun-sational by Maude Asbury line I knew I could have fun with this fabric!
I do have a couple more projects that I’d like to tackle with some of these fabrics, including some beach zipper bags in all of these bright and cheerful colors, but my girls were begging me to make them a mermaid dress. Even they had eyes for the turquoise! So, while I’m not re-inventing the wheel this week, this fabric was sure fun to play with!
I did a pattern mash-up using just the bodice idea from a Brynnberlee Designs pattern called “Super Twiry Tiered Dress” that I’d made before and enjoyed. I love the knot in the back so I can let it out if I need to as she grows!
I then attached a full skirt to the bottom and stuck on some of Made’s fantastic pockets from (this) tutorial, featuring some mint pom poms fringe.
I love the sunny and bright colors on these fabrics, especially in the ones I used in this dress: they cheerfully beckon summery days that are so close!
