I’m so excited about today’s project.
It’s simple and easy, but I LOVE it!
my (BIG) state love!
a few months ago, I ordered this huge, unfinished wooden California from Sassy Steals
. It was CHEAP!
I wanted to make it to put up in my girlies room (‘I wish they all could be California girls….-thanks beach boys), so I knew I wanted to make the print bright.
I had yellow and white chevron fabric…but the idea of trimming off all the crazy waves on the west coast made me sea-sick.
Then on my trip to Utah last month, I found the perfect roll of wrapping paper at Tai Pan Trading…the wrapping paper was the best idea so I wouldn’t have to piece regular scrapbook papers, and the best part about this sheet is that it’s Matte! woo hoo!
So, simple project, you probably know how to do these, but here’s a quick run-down of instructions:
-I sprayed the edges bright yellow
-I liberally spread mod podge along the entire face of the piece of wood
-I laid the wrapping paper sheet down on top of the wood, and smoothed it out so there was no bubbles
-after I allowed if to dry for several hours, I began sanding the paper off of the edges using a downward stroke
-i adhered a turquoise star to the best place on earth!
…and I tried it out on my mini ‘mantel’ to see how it looked.
i love it!
