Ruffles and bows… every little girl’s favorite.
Recently, some amazing blogger friends of mine released this really cool e-book:
I was given the opportunity to make one of the looks. I chose Look #2, created by Jessica, the Sewing Rabbit.
To begin, I want to say what an adorable, unique design this is. My little girl saw Jessica’s version and LOVED it at first sight. She was so excited for me to get sewing.
First off, the e-book is well thought out, and covers all the bases. The basic bodice pattern is a must-have addition to your pattern library. You can use it to make all ten! of the looks as well as for your own designs.
I followed Jessica’s instructions for Look #2 to a tee, except I created a dress version. I added length, a curved hem (goes up at sides) and a waist-tie. To hem the curved skirt neatly, I just made extra bias tape and used that for my hem. It worked really well.
I LOVE how the dress turned out.
During Fabric Weekend, I bought this gorgeous navy and white polka dot cotton voile from Michael Levine. It is the perfect light weight fabric for this dress. You can purchase the fabric here at their website, lowpricefabric.com.
Great job ladies! Emily loves this dress so much, she wants to wear it on the first day of school! Win for mom! 🙂
