It’s been a while, friends. I was having maxi skirt withdrawals…so I just needed to whip up another one. Actually, I have plans for some more, just need to find the time. 🙂 ha ha
I am constantly perusing Anthropologie for inspiration, so when I saw this maxi, I knew I needed to recreate it. I love that it is just different enough to be interesting.
I wish I had some black and white striped fabric in my stash, but this charcoal and white was still nice. I have had this fabric for at least a year and it was just waiting for the perfect project. This skirt is similar to my mismatched maxi, but just different enough to mix things up a bit.
This skirt is also very versatile. Throw on a tank or tee and flip flops and head out the door, or you can dress it up quite nicely, too.

About 2 yards 60″ wide striped knit fabric
Pattern: Size Medium download here
Print out pattern. Make sure to set scaling to none.
Tape together, matching circles.
Cut waistband rectangle: 10″ tall by 28″ wide. (The 28″ along the stretch.) If your fabric is super thin or extra stretchy, you might want to go 27″)
By the way- Use a 1/4″ seam allowance when sewing this skirt.
Attach waistband using this tutorial, then hem your skirt. I find that fusing your hem using Steam a Seam or Stitch Witchery before stitching makes it really easy.
