When I was young, I had all kinds of dreams of what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I can remember wanting to be an artist, an engineer, a lawyer and a fashion designer.
Every time I told my parents the new idea, they were always supportive. They would tell me how I had the potential to be anything I wanted to be. They encouraged me to dream big.
Well, my life took a bit of a detour along the way and I chose practicality over dreams. But somehow things have come full circle.
As I create and design and share here- I realize that my dream became a reality after all.
As a mother, my goal is to follow in my parents’ footsteps. Whatever dreams my children have, I want to encourage.
I want my children to find the path in life that brings them joy and fulfillment. I will help them find that path, whatever it may be, whatever obstacles we need to overcome.
I believe that potential is inside everyone.
This summer, there is a movie coming out that is all about dreaming big — Disney’s new movie, Planes.
Dusty, a small crop-duster plane wants to enter a huge international race. He is scared of heights and isn’t built for competitive racing.
Dusty’s friend Chug is also his biggest supporter. He always believes that Dusty can accomplish his dream, even when it seems impossible. He helps him obtain his dream and doesn’t let Dusty give up. There are other supporters in Dusty’s life, who help in different ways, but in my opinion, Chug’s unending support really benefits Dusty all the way to the end.
We all can use a “Chug” in our lives- and I hope I can always be that for my kids.
I want to be willing to take them where they need to go, help them figure out what they need to do, dry their tears when they fail. And be there cheering when they succeed, just like my parents were for me.
My kids and I can’t wait for this awesome new movie to come out so we can see Dusty and Chug in action!
