Now that Emily is an 8 1/2 year old pre-tween, sewing for her can be tricky. No more quilting cottons… or cute little girly stuff. It makes me so happy that my last little one is a girl so I can sew all those things again!
A few years ago, I made this Cardigan for Emily to wear on Valentine’s Day. The beauty of this design is that the pockets can be optional. You could make square pockets or no pockets at all. (Please excuse the blurry pic!) So whether your little one likes girly stuff or not – you are good to go!
I made this one out of jersey knit, but if I were to make another one, I would use a sweater knit to make it a bit more substantial. Plenty of options at Girl Charlee! You could still make your heart pocket out of jersey for a pop of color.
