Pretty in Peplum Pattern Review / Girl Charlee Giveaway!

When Abby from Sew Much Ado asked us if we would review her new pattern, Pretty in Peplum, both Autie and I jumped on the bandwagon.

Peplum Pattern Tour Graphic

It was fun, because Autie wanted to make the top, and I wanted to make the dress.  It was the perfect way for us to show you both options included in the pattern.

Peplum Top:

Abby from Sew Much Ado sure knows how to make a pattern!  I was delighted when I looked over the pattern that there were not only a wide range of sizes to make this darling piece in, and not only could you choose to make it into a top or a dress, but also you could choose what sleeve length you’d like.  6 patterns in one!  yes, please!

The Pretty in Peplum dress and top pattern was also very thorough and was a cinch to sew!  The helpful hints to sewing with knits were exactly that…totally helpful!  I loved the simple verbage and think that the pattern language was so clear. I’ve already cut out 2 more shirts for my daughter.

So, I loved sewing this shirt, and my Ivy loves wearing it…she pleaded with me to let her wear it two days in a row…I told her she needed to save it to wear to school!  (She especially loves the Girl Charlee Feather fabric that SHE chose for this shirt…who doesn’t feel fancy in feathers?!)

They labeled this pattern with a skill level of ‘Confident Beginner’ which I consider myself to be!  and it was RIGHT ON! This will be one of my favorite go-to patterns!

Peplum Dress:

Recently Emily seems to have been growing out of all her dresses, so when I got the opportunity to review this pattern, it was perfect.

Girl Charlee so graciously provided the fabric for us, and Emily loved this gorgeous floral jersey. We found this Magenta Ponte that worked so perfect as an accent.

Pretty in Peplum 4

I was thinking of making the top and peplum out of the floral and the skirt out of the solid, but when I asked Emily to make sure, she said she wanted floral top, solid peplum, floral skirt.  So that is what I did.  And I love it.

Pretty in Peplum 3

I loved everything about this pattern.  The fit is spot-on.  Emily is in between a 6 and a 7 in measurements, so I cut the size 7.  It fits perfectly.  I raised the waist a tiny bit, and made it a tiny bit shorter, but those are the only adjustments I made.  We decided to do an elbow length sleeve- so I just cut couple of inches off the 3/4 length sleeve pattern.

The great thing about this design is how versatile it is.  You can do a solid, or make it look more like a dress and a skirt.  You can color block or pattern mix.  It is the perfect dress for a tween (which is where we almost are… Augghhh)

The instructions were clear and concise and so easy to follow.  I would make this again for SURE!
