Vintage Tea Towel Skirt Mashup

Are you so sick of my skirt fetish?  It’s just been so toasty here in SoCal, and I’ve loved the break that my skirts give me from the cut-offs that I wear daily!  So, one last skirt for you today…and yet another mash-up.

Back to the vintage tea towels that my Mother-in-Law scored for me at Goodwill a while ago, I posted a tutorial for a couple of skirts I made for my daughter {here}.  I have a couple other towels left, but didn’t really want to make Ivy any more, so I thought I’d give a mom-sized version a whirl.

So, I grabbed my 4 Quarters skirt pattern {here}, and cut 3 parts kitchen-y fabric, and 1 part towel…with one exception…my towel wasn’t quite wide enough to fit the pattern, so if you look closely, I did add a small section of cream colored linen to either side of the towel portion of the skirt.  You can only see it on the two bottom edges of that portion, but it’s not very noticeable! (well, not that you’re looking, it’s totally noticeable!)

and then I finished it off, again, with my new favorite waistband…tutorial found {here}

I didn’t add a pocket this time, I didn’t add any more trims, I just kept this one simple.  I was nervous that the towel would look too bulky up there on my waist, but I think it turned out OK… and by the way, there is a darling tea towel at Target with 87 pumpkins on it and piece of pie that would make a really, really cute one of these!

Just saying.
