Fixer-upper dress

I have another Wal-Mart fixer-upper for you today.
I rarely go to Wal-Mart, but there are a few occasions that it calls for a quick trip to Wally World.  I happened to run through the tiny girls department, and found a couple of these terry-cloth swimsuit cover-ups.  They are super soft, and really, my 3 year-old will only wear dresses, so this swimsuit cover-up will serve as a play dress for her.
I love that it’s plain.  Sometimes, they craze up cute dresses or shirts with wacky graphics, and I can’t stand it!  But, this one is soft and ruffly and perfect.
My mom also happened to buy a little package of these pre-ruffled strips of fabric at Jo-Anns while she was here with me while I had my baby.  I thought the dress would be the perfect project to use with these.  They are raw-edged, which I like the look of on this project.

So, all I did was start on the side seam of the dress, just above the bottom ruffle (so that the skinny strip covers that seam) and stitched right down the middle all the way around.  When I got to the end, I folded the edge under, and finished it off by back-tacking.  Ivy has worn the pink one 3 times already, and loves it!

(I had a sick little girlie today, so , sorry, no pics of it on her!)
